Article Processing Charges
Publication Charges(Article Processing Charges): Biomedica – The official Journal of University of Health Sciences Lahore provides a free Open Access opportunity to all readers. All the manuscripts published in Biomedica are available as free full texts online. From 1st December 2019, authors shall be charged for manuscript submission and publication as follows:
While submitting the manuscript, each author shall submit a non-refundable Processing Fee equaling Rs. 2000. A scanned copy of receipt of this payment by author will be sent through email (editorbiomedica@uhs.edu.pk).
As soon as the notification is received, manuscript will be assigned a Code for Biomedica for Internal Review (Step -1). Manuscript is rejected at this stage if Editorial Board is not satisfied with the quality and context and authors are informed about the decision within 04 weeks of submission.
If the Editorial Board considers manuscript of sufficient scientific quality and context, the authors receive Review Report of Step-1.After changes are made by authors and verified by Internal Reviewer and/or Editor according to Step 1 review, manuscript shall be forwarded for Peer review (Step 2).
After peer review, manuscript shall be declared as "Accepted" or “Rejected”.
In case of Acceptance, authors will incorporate suggested peer review changes within 04 weeks. After resubmission of corrected manuscripts by authors, they will be asked to submit publishing fee equaling to the type of manuscript that has been accepted (Table: 1).
Receipt of payment by authors shall be submitted through email to the Editor (editorbiomedica@uhs.edu.pk).
After receipt of payment, final copy editing and/or proof reading by authors followed by Editorial Board will be carried out.
Once copy editing is complete, manuscript will be published online and in printed form.
Authors shall submit Challan in respective Account by mentioning type of manuscript and type of fee alongwith name of corresponding author only. e.g Processing fee for Original article or Publishing fee for Case Report Please make sure that Challan may not contain name other than the corresponding author.
Please remember that manuscript may be rejected anytime after Step 1 or Step 2. Submission of processing fee does not guarantee publication of your manuscript.
No fee (processing or publishing) is refundable.
If author wishes to withdraw the manuscript after its processing (Internal and/or External peer review) is complete, he/she may NOT be allowed for this act unless there is a valid and a justifiable reason. If withdrawl is allowed by the Editorial Board on case-case basis, the authors shall be liable to pay the full publication fee for the manuscript type.
Partial waivers may be acceptable only after thorough deliberation of requests and approval from Editor. It shall be ensured that each issue may contain not more than two manuscripts with waiver entitlement.
Additional charges may apply for printing of extra coloured images/ graphs and any extra table (Rs. 1000 per image/graph and Rs. 300 per table).
Printed copy of Journal shall be sent by mail to the Principal Author only. Additional copies for rest of authors may be requested at the time of acceptance on payment of Rs. 1000 each. No such request shall be entertained after the printed version of issue is officially released.
Payment should be received within one week after receiving manuscript editorial acceptance.

1. Download Challan: Visit (https://fms.uhs.edu.pk/) and download the Processing Fee challan.
2. Select Fee Type: Choose "BioMedica Article Processing Fee" from the dropdown menu.
3. Generate Challan: Generate the challan and proceed to payment.
4. Payment Options: Pay the challan at any branch of:
- The Bank of Punjab
- National Bank of Pakistan
OR
- Online payment through user friendly 1BILL option (instructions given on the left side of the challan)
5. Share Payment Proof: Share a screenshot/image of the paid challan with us at editorbiomedica@uhs.edu.pk

Reimbursement can be claimed by authors if, after issuance of acceptance letter, publication of the manuscript is delayed for a period equaling subsequent two issues of the journal; this may not apply if circumstances beyond University’s administrative control arise.
