Digital Archiving & Preservation

Digital archiving and preservation policy of Biomedica - an Official Journal of University of Health Sciences Lahore Pakistan is continuously undergoing upgradation. Through this policy, the journal ensures that all data published to-date shall be stored, backed-up and be accessible in the digital formats as a long-term process.

Website Archiving:

The electronic format of the manuscripts published since 2004 (pdf format) are freely available at the journal website. The content on one server is online and accessible to the readers. The copy of the same content is kept as a backup on another server maintained by the highly skilled IT department of University of Health Sciences Lahore, Pakistan. In case of failure of the main server, the other server can be made online within 24 hours to the readers.

Abstracting/Indexing Services:

The abstracting/Indexing services (PakMedinet and PASTIC) have stored the articles published since 1996 and 1990 respectively. Therefore, copies of the published manuscripts are available to the scientific community through their systems as an alternative to the journals own website. Additionally, journal is contracting with reputed international archiving service providers for preserving the metadata as well as the electronic versions of the published manuscripts that will be successfully implemented soon.

Self-Archiving:

Authors may archive the final published version of their articles in personal or institutional repositories immediately after publication.

If Journal Stops Publishing:

As a part of the largest public sector university in Pakistan, we are hopeful to publish on regular basis without interruptions. However, if, due to some rare, unfortunate circumstances, we are forced to stop publishing the journal, the manuscripts published in the journal will be kept online and accessible to the readers.

Biomedica - an Official Journal of University of Health Sciences Lahore Pakistan has made arrangements for Digital Archiving with PORTICO through its publisher/hosting provider. Further information is available here
